Student Expectations

All Technology Applications students and their parents are required to read the Katy ISD Student Responsible Use Guidelines and Computer Lab Agreement and agree to abide by these documents before logging into a computer in class.

The Student Information Sheet must be filled out and signed as documentation to agreeing to these terms.

Katy ISD requires a $15 Tech Apps Lab Fee for students enrolled in Technology Applications courses. This fee purchases consumable goods for the class.

Grading

File Naming

Filenaming is important for several reasons.

• If you know the exact filename you can perform a search and find it on your computer.
• If you turn something in with the wrong filename, the teacher may grade it incorrectly or not at all.
• The naming makes it easier for the teacher to grade it as well.

All files should be saved as: Pd #_Your Last Name_Designated Filename.
For example: 1_Smith_Lsn 1

Retest Policy

Students will be given the opportunity to retake a test or redo a major assignment if the student receives a grade lower than 70% on the original test/product. Major is defined as an assignment that is coded to the major category in the grading template.

• The student can retest/redo one time for a grade no higher than 70%.
• Retesting must be completed within one week of receiving the grade from the original test.
• On a major assignment/test where academic dishonesty occurs, a student will not be eligible for retesting.
• If the student makes no attempt on a major assignment/test, the student will not be eligible for retesting.

Project Retest

All projects and assignments are due on the due date! If you have not finished and want to utilize the Retest Policy you should still turn in your file on the due date with INC at the beginning of the filename. This will let the teacher know that you are going to turn it in no more than one week late with a maximum grade of 70%.

All files should be saved as: INC_Pd #_Your Last Name_Designated Filename.
For example: INC_1_Smith_Lsn 1

Tutorials

Students should utilize tutorials to make up work due to absences, get extra help from teachers, or for extra time on assignments and projects. Students who need extra time for assignments and projects may use their Study Hall period if computers are available. They should get a Study Hall pass from their Tech Apps teacher ahead of time.
